What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is an intervention aimed at increasing your psychosocial well being. Therapy is a professional relationship between client and therapist designed to alleviate turmoil or distress. The goal of therapy is to help you identify and cope more effectively with problems in your daily life.

What should I expect when starting therapy?

The initial meeting will include a thorough review of problems and issues you are experiencing, i.e., mood swings, sleep, appetite, energy level, weight, concentration, memory, interest in activities, feelings of anxiety or panic, change in behavior, interpersonal difficulties, work or home life, substance use, or sense of self. Another area typically addressed is past experiences of difficulty, including functioning at work or school, relationships and family. We treat a wide range of problems and work with you to set goals for your therapy.

What is the cost for therapy services?

Fees will vary depending on the type of service provided. If you are paying for your own sessions, you will be asked to pay your bill at the beginning of each session. Initial session or specialized assessment cost $150 per hour, 45-60 minute therapy session cost $130 per session.

Does insurance pay for therapy?

Alternative Pathways Psychological Services, LLC accepts most major insurance plans. Most insurance companies require a diagnosis to provide reimbursement. All co-payments and co-insurance are your responsibility and are due at the beginning of service.

How long will therapy last?

Individual and family therapy sessions usually last between 45-60 minutes each. Psychological testing, court/legal consultation, or expert testimony will vary depending on what is needed. Depending on the situation, appointments may be set up on a weekly, bimonthly or monthly basis.

What does confidentiality really mean?

Your therapist and any staff member has a legal, ethical and professional responsibility to abide by state and federal regulations designed to prevent disclosure of any information. For full disclosure click here to view our Notice of Privacy Practices.
